Due to security requirements, services and management of Integrated Broadband Communication (IBC) are crucially dependent on the use of cryptographic techniques. Within the RACE program (Research and Development in Advanced Communications Technologies in Europe), the RIPE project (RACE Integrity Primitives Evaluation) aims to put forward a portfolio of such techniques to meet the anticipated security requirements of IBC. The goal of this contribution is to describe background and status of the RIPE project.
